Francesco Bruno Angilletta

Francesco Angilletta was born on March 23, 1895 in Ardore, Reggio Calabria, Italy. He was the youngest of seven children born to Rocco Angilletta and Maria Andriano. In 1915, Francesco, like his older brother, Enrico was drafted to fight in WW1. That same year, in April of 1915, Maria Andriano, their mother died of causes unknown to me at this time. Enrico was killed shortly before his 26th birthday on August 20, 1915 in battle leaving behind a pregnant wife, Domenica Caterina Fuda. His daughter, Enrichetta was born in February of 1916.

Domenica Caterina Fuda

Domenica Caterina FudaFrancesco survived the War and upon his discharge in 1918, married his brother's widow in a civil ceremony and raised her daughter as his own. They also had several children of their own in the 57 years they were married. Domenica died in Locri on April 14, 1975 at the age 86 years old after a brief illness. Francesco died suddenly of heart failure in 1989 at the age of 93.
